All that water. We're drowning.
― Alan Waldeck

Alan Waldeck was an engineer stationed at Omicron at PATHOS-II.

Biography[]

Waldeck operated the Abyss Climber Rig and maintained the LUMAR probes at Omicron along with Eric Darby.

On September 13, 2103, Waldeck descended into the Omega Sector with Julia Dahl to assist with the evacuation of Tau. After hearing the evacuees being killed by abyssal wildlife over the radio, Waldeck and Dahl returned to Omicron. After this, Waldeck stopped maintaining the LUMAR probes in fear of the savage wildlife.

Waldeck's ARK scan was performed by Catherine Chun on December 25, 2103. The same day, Waldeck helped her and the rest of the ARK team descend into the abyss. Two days later, he pulled the Climber back up, but instead of the ARK team, he found Dr. Johan Ross' dead body.

Waldeck died on January 16, 2104, after the WAU overloaded the blackboxes of all crewmembers at Omicron.

In SOMA[]

At Delta, Simon Jarrett can contact and talk to Zeppelin 216, containing Alan Waldeck's neurograph. Waldeck panics, believing he's drowning before the link cuts off. The zeppelin can't be contacted a second time.
