Brandon Wan is a Chinese engineer who was a Wrangler on PATHOS-II, stationed at Delta. In SOMA, he was relocated to Theta after the Impact Event. He showed great affection for his colleague Alice Koster.
Brandon is of Sichuan Chinese descent, and was born in Hong Kong. Paraphernalia regarding his life before he was stationed on PATHOS-II can be found all over his room at Theta, from a family photo to an award he received. While on PATHOS-II, he was positioned at Delta working with Javid Goya, Astrid Krier, and Terry Akers.
Sometime before 2103, he started developing a romantic relationship with Alice Koster.
On August 25th, 2103, his brain scan was completed, with Alice accompanying him.
When Theta was overrun by Proxy creatures on January, 16, 2104, Brandon stayed behind in order for his colleagues to escape Theta toward Omicron, he removed the connector chip of the safety latch thus sealing the lift which prevented the Proxy creatures' advance. Cornered by Proxies, Brandon committed suicide by cutting his throat with a knife.
In Theta labs, Simon Jarrett activate a simulation of Brandon Wan, using the identity of one of his close colleagues, Alice Koster, to persuade him to release details on the security cipher needed to release the station's DUNBAT submersible from a quarantined state.
Later, while Simon makes his way through Theta maintenance, he finds Brandon Wan's body with his throat slit. Simon takes the connector chip for the elevator from Brandon's corpse so that he can advance on towards the Theta shuttle station.
Behind the Scenes
The story of Wan and Koster was originally much darker. They had a child together, but when everything went down and they were separated, Wan had his baby with him, and had a gun which he used to shoot it and then himself.
