Chris Josic was the Chief Factor at Site Lambda on PATHOS-II.

Biography

On January 12, 2103, Josic received an email from this father, Matthias Josic, informing him of the mood on the surface shortly before the Impact Event, and that he hoped the crew of PATHOS-II would be able to survive.

He relocated to Theta along with the rest of Lambda some time after the Impact Event.

His scan for the ARK project was performed on August 18, 2103.

He most likely met his fate on January 16, 2104, when Theta was overrun by Terry Akers and the Proxies, though this is not confirmed.

Email from Dad

Date: Jan 12, 2103
Message:
Chris,
I've stayed up all night. Seemed like a waste to sleep. I got the TV on in the background, the newscasters are covering the incoming comet like they were counting down for New Year's Eve. I know it's messed up wishing you were here with me. I suppose if anyone has a chance to survive this thing it would be you guys below the waves. I hope you are able to go on, if it's a life worth living.

Looks like the shit's about to hit the fan. I better hit send before the shockwave reaches us.

I'm proud of you boy.
Dad

Behind the Scenes

  • The Omnitool room at Upsilon was originally supposed to contain the Suit Robot, a Simon-like creation of the WAU simulating the personality of Josic. This was removed, though the room still contains the headless body.
  • The name of the email service used by Matthias Josic, Skilaboeth, is an alternative spelling of the Icelandic word Skilaboð (with 'Eth' representing the character 'ð') which aptly means "(a) message" in Icelandic.
    • On the same day SOMA was released, a real website for Skilaboeth.net was launched. Frictional Games has confirmed that this website was not launched by them and is not official or affiliated with them in any way.[1]
