Richard Thabo was an electromechanical engineer who served as a Mechatronics Engineer on PATHOS-II, stationed at Theta.

Biography

While Catherine Chun was working on the AR-Capsule, the early prototype of what would eventually become the ARK, Richard gave her a set of legacy neurograph scans to import and test. These scans apparently did not get along with the scan of Imogen Reed, with Catherine describing the latter as "too real".

When John Strohmeier shut down the ARK project in an attempt to curb "continuity" suicides, Richard was one of the few crewmembers remaining that hadn't been scanned.

Richard was able to evacuate from Theta when it was attacked and overrun by Terry Akers and the Proxies. He and the rest of the crew who escaped all met their deaths before they were able to get into Omicron, due to the quarantine.

Richard appears to be the last survivor of the evacuees from Theta. While his body is never found and death not confirmed, he apparently had enough strength to leave Emma Alvaro in her final moments, as evidenced by the faint sound of footsteps walking away in her blackbox recording.

Richard can be heard by Simon Jarrett when datamining Emma's blackbox outside of Omicron.

• Richard's body is never found.
  • It's possible that he threw himself into the abyss as a means of suicide, which would explain why his body can't be found anywhere around Omicron.
  • "Thabo" is listed as an unused character in the VOICE file for the Omicron interior map, implying he was originally planned to have made it inside (or perhaps a log of him hailing Omicron from outside was cut).
